20190192 Latypova V.A., Martynov V.V., Turganov A.G. Decision support system in online training process management for implementing complex open ended assignments in engineering education. Q: You identified several indicators of training process. Do you think that information about their value will be enough to define all the problems in the course? A: The identified indicators are only related to training process during complex open ended assignment implementation. These indicators are the main, they reflect the challenges in solving complex open ended assignments. Q: You mentioned that the decision support system contains 50 rules. How can you explain such quantity? A: The decision support system includes generalized production rules which are common to different subjects. The knowledge base includes the rules which can identify indicators values deviations, the cause of these deviations and the action to correct the model of training process. These rules do not depend on specific domain. That is why their number is not large. Q: Today curriculums change very often, e.g. in the field of information technologies. The composition of training courses changes. Do you think your method and decision support system will be helpful in this situation? A: It is true that composition of training courses changes very often in certain domains. But we usually teach the same coursers for 2-3 years. After the first teaching year we can improve training process, so the following teaching year we will get better training results. Q: Can your method and decision support system be used in other fields? Or it is only for university training process? A: The method and decision support system were developed especially for training process at university. But there are other fields where we should manage the solving of complex open ended assignments. In this case the method and decision support system can be used partly. There are common indicators, which can be used not only in education, but there are some specific indicators, which are related only to education. This also applies to production rules in the knowledge base. One should develop specific indicators and production rules and make appropriate adjustments.
